Unmanned Aerial Systems Training Begins at SDC

Our SDC Aviation Department is pleased to now offer an Unmanned Aerial Systems concentration for aviation students. The first academic class, Fundamental of UAS, has already begun.

SDC Aviation is looking to partner with several different UAS industries, and the Federal Aviation Administration, in helping to define operator certification and licensing requirements. In addition, these partnerships will be providing our students with the very latest in cutting edge technology in an academic program that will lead to jobs as operators of both the aircraft and the sensors. Estimates for growth in this industry are over $70B.

“It is exciting to see the doors that the Lord has been opening in this area,” said Dr. John Marselus, our new director of Aviation. He recently enjoyed the privilege of flying the Scan Eagle (in photo), while visiting one of the potential industry partners, INSITU.
