San Diego Christian is excited to announce its first fraternity Alpha Eta Rho (AHP) – a coed international professional aviation fraternity that has granted charters to more than 140 chapters at the most prestigious aviation colleges and universities. Currently, AHP recognizes over 60 active chapters and 50,000 alumni in the United States and throughout the world.
Tom Powers, SDC aviation student, founded the Sigma Delta Chi chapter at SDC in hopes of creating a fellowship between believers who are passionate about aviation as well as making connections and networking in the competitive aviation field. AHP promotes contact between the students of aviation and those in the profession along with continuous improvements in aviation education and research.
Powers said regarding the bad stigma of fraternities that “Social fraternities have tendencies to bend the rules by hazing and throwing parties, but that is not what SDC’s Alpha Eta Rho is about. We are about creating opportunities for people.”
“SDC’s Alpha Eta Rho will offer scholarships, host conferences, and aid the institution in welcoming freshman into the community at SDC,” said Powers.
