A Colorful Ending

El Cajon, CA -- The final GSAC conference match up of 2009 for the Hawks was a match-up against Hope International University. The Hawks fell 4-1, advancing the Royals record to 6-8-4, 1-7-2 GSAC.

The game began as an even contest between the two teams, but in the 33rd minute, the first of the games two red cards was issued, leaving the Hawks down a man. Three minutes later, Hope put a ball away, going into the second half with a 1-0 lead. In the 46th minute, Emmanuel Onywera finished a through ball from Senior Ignacio Finlay far post, tieing the game at one. The Royals finished three more opportunities before the second red of the game was issued. A total of 5 yellows and 2 reds were given in the match.

SDCC finishes the 2009 season 3-14 and 0-10 in the GSAC. Emmanuel Onywera led the Hawks with 9 goals and 2 assists, finishing with 20 points in 14 games. Senior Ignacio Finlay had 3 goals, 5 assists and 11 points in 17 games.
