Overview of WSCUC Accreditation
The WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) is the regional accrediting agency that serves a diverse membership of public and private higher education institutions throughout California, Hawaii, and the Pacific as well as a number of international institutions. Through its work of peer review, based on standards agreed to by its members, the Commission encourages continuous institutional improvement and assures the membership and its constituencies, including the public, that accredited institutions are fulfilling their respective established missions in service to their students and the public good. The WSCUC is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as certifying institutional eligibility for federal funding in a number of programs, including student access to federal financial aid.
2016 Reaffirmation of WSCUC Accreditation
The accreditation of San Diego Christian College was reaffirmed on July 8, 2016. An overview of this two-year process and access to related documents are provided below.
SDC’s WASC Steering Committee:
To facilitate and coordinate the reaffirmation of accreditation process, SDC formed a steering committee of representatives from across the campus community. This steering committee was responsible to producing all required documents on behalf of the campus and coordinating the Offsite Review and Accreditation Visit. We thank these individuals for their significant investment of time and energy in this process.

Reaffirmation of Accreditation Process
August 13, 2015: SDC submitted the required documentation: Institutional Report
October 20, 2015: The Review Team conducted its Offsite Review via video conference with representatives from SDC’s WASC Steering Committee. Based on their examination of the submitted materials, the Review Team presented four Commendations and eight Lines of Inquiry for their upcoming Accreditation Visit to SDC. Shortly after this Offsite Review, the Review Team issued their Offsite Review Report. The SDC WASC Steering Committee met with many individuals on campus to gather further documentation to respond to the Lines of Inquiry. The requested information and documents were submitted in January, 2016.
March 1-4, 2016: The Review Team conducted its Accreditation Visit. An established schedule included meetings with a variety of campus constituents, open forums for faculty, staff, and students, and an exit statement of their initial findings and recommendations. To help prepare the campus for this visit, the WASC Steering Committee developed an Awareness Campaign that included several events, activities, and communiques to engage the Campus and keep them informed throughout the entire continuous improvement process. The President and Academic Vice President, shared the initial findings with the campus community.
March 24, 2016: WSCUC issued the Team Report to SDC.
April 8, 2016: SDC provided its Response Letter to WSCUC.
April 18, 2016: WSCUC issued the Final Team Report to SDC.
June 23, 2016: WSCUC Commission Panel reviewed and discussed the Team Report and Response Letter. The Commission Panel met with SDCs President, Academic Vice President, CFO, and ALO to discuss the report further. The comments during this meeting informed the Commission’s deliberations and decision regarding official action.
June 24, 2016: WSCUC Commission voted to reaffirm SDCs accreditation for eight years. They scheduled a Special Visit in spring, 2019 regarding the Review Team’s five recommendations; they scheduled a Mid-Cycle Review in spring 2020; and they scheduled the next reaffirmation review with the Offsite Review in fall 2023 and Accreditation Visit in spring 2024.
July 8, 2016: WSCUC issued its Formal Notification and Official Record of Action to SDC, including Commendations and Recommendations.
July 22, 2016: SDCs leadership announced the Reaffirmation of Accreditation to the broader campus and initiated the plan to integrate WSCUC’s recommendations through Executive Task Force assignments. This will create the strategies and action steps to continue SDCs continuous improvement and provide the evidence for the Special Visit in 2019 and subsequent academic years.
