San Diego Christian College (SDC) seeks a Vice President for Academics to serve as the chief academic officer. SDC is a private, faith-based, liberal arts college that offers bachelor’s and a growing master’s degree portfolio. San Diego Christian College is accredited by WSCUC. SDC just had our comprehensive accreditation visit this past year. We received eight years of continued accreditation.
History of San Diego Christian College
San Diego Christian College (SDC) was founded in 1970 as Christian Heritage College (CHC) by Drs. Tim LaHaye, Art Peters, and Henry Morris, who desired to equip students with an education that trains both mind and heart. The first degrees were awarded in 1973. Soon after, the college moved campuses to share a 32 acre complex with Shadow Mountain Community Church.
In 1976 Christian Heritage College was awarded the status of Candidate for Accreditation by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WSCUC) and was given full Accreditation in 1984. The college is also a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU).
In 2005, Christian Heritage College became San Diego Christian College and in 2014, SDC moved to a new campus in Santee. While the name and location has changed, the mission remains the same: to educate and inspire students through the truth of Scripture and the development of competencies that prepare graduates whose purpose is to impact the world.

Institutional Learning Outcomes
Centered on the SDC Mission and Vision Enable Students to:

The ideal candidate will be an emerging leader who would be characterized as an innovator, creative decision maker, values-based leader, skillful motivator, proactive communicator, entrepreneurial, and a team player who is committed to working and serving students first and faculty. Experience with regional accreditation, traditional and non-traditional education, assessment and a proven track record of achievement are necessary for the desired candidate. Additionally, the committee is searching for the candidate whose vision and academic strategic planning can launch the college to even greater heights in both traditional and non-traditional programs.
The new Vice President for Academics will be a key member of the executive staff and president’s cabinet and will become a rallying leader within the SDC community. SDC offers more than 35 undergraduate majors and concentrations and two graduate degrees. All major classes are supplemented by general education while integrating a biblical worldview.
An earned doctorate is required. Demonstrated ability to work with a board of trustees and proven effectiveness to work with faculty committees and the college president is essential.
