The Department of Performing Arts at San Diego Christian (SDC) strongly believes that personal talents are given to us for the glory of Jesus Christ.
Why Choose Performing Arts at SDC?
The Department of Performing Arts faculty seeks to encourage students to strive for excellence within their musical or theatrical abilities, as well as their personal character and integrity. This major is designed to foster personal and professional growth as students engage in a challenging program of study, a tremendous community environment, and limitless opportunities to gain experience in their field.
In addition to academic research, students have the opportunity to participate in chorale groups, instrumental ensembles, VISION team (silent drama/chorale missions team), SDC theatrical productions, and worship teams. SDC also proudly partners with Christian Youth Theater (CYT), where students have the opportunity to intern, direct, produce, teach, and manage CYT operations around the country.
Whether a student feels led toward vocal or instrumental performance, musical theater, teaching in the private or public schools, or leading worship in the church setting, we have a program designed to develop an excellence that speaks of our Savior and Lord. Students will find a challenging program of study, a tremendous community environment, and limitless performance opportunities. So if you have a gift and passion for musical or dramatic arts, please contact the Performing Arts Department at (619) 201-8763.
“Our desire for the Department of Performing Arts is to facilitate programs that will prepare students for successful careers in the world of performing arts and education. It is a joy to be a part of changing lives through the power of music and the arts!”

San Diego Christian Chorale
As one of the premier performance groups of the Performing Arts Department, the San Diego Christian Chorale features students from various degree programs around campus. These students minister to various churches and venues around California, Nevada, and Arizona throughout the school year. Musical expressions include traditional works to today’s most popular worship charts. Over 30 pieces are memorized over the course of the year for performance. All music majors are required to participate in the group and, for non-music majors, acceptance is based on the ability to make a one-year commitment. This group also tours an exclusive area of the United States each year during Spring Break. Scholarships are available to individuals according to ability and grade point average (GPA).
