Rick Roof, Ph.D., Faculty Lead of the Leadership and Justice Program

Dr. Roof leads the San Diego Christian College Leadership and Justice Program and teaches a wide range of leadership, ethics, research, and personal development courses. He also serves as advisor for Leadership and Justice internships and capstone projects as well as serving as the Dean of Students for the College. Dr. Roof offers our students real-world perspectives resulting from a diverse and adventurous career. After serving 9 years in the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Roof was a corporate senior executive leading organizations in technology, manufacturing, data management, business and consumer services, an Internet startup, and aviation. His most recent role was leading a global airborne ISR (intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance) division and Dr Roof had a successful consulting practice, Harvest Leadership Group, prior to joining SDC. Dr. Roof also taught for the Liberty University School of Aviation.

Dr. Roof has published on a wide range of subjects including The Association of Individual Spirituality on Employee Engagement: The Spirit at Work, Authentic Leadership Questionnaire (ALQ) Psychometrics, Decisions in Context: How Culture Shapes the Decision Process, and The Relationship between Spiritual Engagement and Authentic Leadership, Exploring the Core of Leadership. His current projects are focused on workplace spirituality, authentic leadership, employee engagement, multiculturalism, and spiritual engagement as critical to leader identity transformation. He also a regular presenter in the leadership and organizational behavior track at the American Association of Christian Counselors World Conference.

Dr. Roof received a B.S. in Industrial Technology from Southern Illinois University, an M.A.R. in Pastoral Counseling from Liberty University, and a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership from Regent University. Dr. Roof believes our San Diego Christian students should receive an academic program second to none in rigor, global perspectives, and cultural awareness while their learning remains grounded in the student’s ever-evolving Biblical worldview through which wisdom emerges. Dr. Roof is married to his wife Diana, and has four adult children, and seven grandchildren. He enjoys travel, watching Hawks athletics, playing worship music, running, and research.
