SDC Counseling Services partners with the Center for Enriching Relationships (based in San Diego) which is designed to assist students through a broad range of issues and topics.  Understanding that we are all fallen people, we seek to help students process through life by applying the Word of God to the counseling relationship.  We aim to help every student, staff, or faculty member through whatever life circumstances they seek assistance in.

All appointments occur at the main campus in Santee, are done in full confidentiality (see Confidentiality Policy), and all sessions are provided at NO COST.

What to Expect in your FIRST Counseling Session?

When you come to your first counseling appointment, we understand that anxiety, nerves, and uncertainty are common emotions to feel.  We want to do everything possible to make you feel comfroatble and facilitate a safe environment.  Your first time provides opportuntity to get acquainted with your counselor and discuss the reason behind why you are seeking counsel.  The counselor might ask some basic questions about your background and your current circumstances.  The counselor will also walk you through your rights as a client in regards to confidenitality (See Confidentiality Policy).  Sometimes, issues are easily pinpoint, addressed, and do not require more than a few meetings. Other times, you and your counselor may find it best to meet on a more frequent basis.  In that scenario, you two will set up a plan for development and define some realistic goals for the future.
