Many of you know prospective or current college students who could use some financial assistance to support them in pursuing their college education. My outstanding staff and interns have gathered a list below of numerous grants and scholarships that could help ease the burden.
My wife, Kate, and I are the proud parents of two college graduates and a prospective college student. We understand how exciting this time can be as well as the challenges associated with finding the financial resources necessary to help students achieve their dreams. That’s why we want you to have this valuable information.
The scholarship and grant information list below is a useful tool to introduce you to many of the scholarship opportunities that are available. If you know of any other resources not included in this list, please forward them to Senator.Anderson@senate.ca.gov and we will be sure to add them to our list.
As the March 2 Cal Grant application deadline approaches, be sure to visit the California Student Aid Commission’s website at www.csac.ca.gov. Last year, 6,400 grants were offered but only 4,300 of those grants were taken. According to the California Student Aid Commission, many middle class students were not aware that they could qualify for FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The California Student Aid Commission advises everyone to apply.
Please keep in mind that these scholarships and grants have varied eligibility requirements and deadlines that must be met in order to be considered as a recipient. We strongly advise you to read them in detail and act promptly. To make it as simple as possible, we have arranged them so that the grants and scholarships with the closest upcoming deadlines are at the very top. Additionally, this list is not officially endorsed by the State Senate. It is simply a service my office provides that I hope you will find to be helpful.
As always, it’s an honor to serve you.
