In striving to be a community that is developing and growing in our relationship with God and with each other, San Diego Christian College (SDCC) has accepted the following principles and standards that commit members of SDCC Community to model and support a biblical worldview and lifestyle. This covenant is the agreement that governs our relationships in order to provide unity and continuity throughout the workings of our organization.
In order to live in peace and harmony while being accountable to God and those of the SDCC community, I commit to the principles and standards of SDCC Community Covenant and the expectations outlined in the Student and Employee Handbooks and the Board Policy Manual.
As a student, staff member, or faculty member, I commit to…
…Submit to the Authority of God’s Word
As a follower of Jesus Christ, I am committed to following the Word of God in my essential Christian beliefs as stated in SDCC’s Core Beliefs, in my life decisions, and lifestyle choices.
…Live under the Lordship of Christ
As a follower of Jesus Christ, I am committed to His Lordship of my life through the power of the Holy Spirit. I recognize that the preservation of this commitment requires the submission to and filling of the Holy Spirit in my life; the practice of spiritual disciplines, and the pursuit of unity in relationships with others in this community.
…Model a life of Christian Character and Integrity
As a follower of Jesus Christ, I am committed to “put off” all conduct prohibited by the Word of God including, but not limited to, sins of slander, gossip, cheating, stealing, every form of dishonesty, profanity, sexual immorality, pornography, drunkenness, illegal drugs, legal drugs illegally acquired and/or possessed, disrespect of human authority God has placed over me, and neglect to carry out the duties assigned to me to the best of my abilities.
In addition, I recognize that even when no command in Scripture expressly forbids conduct, involvement in “lawful” conduct may not be “spiritually beneficial” to those inside or outside the SDCC community. Accordingly, I will refrain from any conduct that might hinder another’s academic and spiritual progress.
This covenant is binding for all members who choose to become a part of the SDCC Community and are standards that should be maintained while a member of the community. I agree to be held accountable to the biblical standards and the traditions of the commitment. I understand that appropriate action will be taken if the covenant is disregarded. Though I understand the goal of such action will always be characterized by Christ’s love and redemptive spirit, I recognize that ultimately withdrawal from the community may result if these commitments are not honored. The Community Covenant is subject to approved changes of the Student and Employee Handbooks and the Board Policy Manual.
